Project Potential - From Learning Strategy to Solution

Needs Assessment

Outlines & Storyboards

Outlines & Storyboards

Every successful learning solution begins with understanding the problem. I collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify performance gaps, define desired outcomes, assess available resources, and better understand what learners need to succeed.

The needs assessment creates a strong foundation for the project and helps ensure that training is the right solution before development begins.

Outlines & Storyboards

Outlines & Storyboards

Before development begins, I create an outline to organize initial ideas, define the learning structure, and ensure early alignment with subject matter experts and stakeholders.

I then use storyboards to translate the learning strategy into a logical, purposeful experience. Whether following ADDIE, SAM, or an Agile development approach, these planning documents help clarify expectations, identify potential issues early, and create alignment before time and resources are invested in building the final learning solution.

Intentional, Easy-to-Navigate Course Design

Although I am comfortable working with multiple authoring tools, I often use Articulate Rise to build responsive, easy-to-navigate learning experiences with a variety of interactive options.

I design each course with the learner experience in mind. My courses typically begin with clear expectations, including the intended audience, estimated duration, navigation guidance, and learning outcomes, so learners understand what they are about to learn and how the course will support them.

Interactive eLearning Modules

Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate allow me to create more dynamic and interactive learning experiences when the content or learning objective calls for a deeper level of engagement.

I use a variety of approaches—including interactive screens, scenario-based activities, animations, and multimedia—to keep learners actively involved rather than simply asking them to press play and watch. When appropriate, I also include features such as intuitive navigation, downloadable resources, and glossaries to support learners during and after the course.

Accessibility is built into the development process from the beginning. Closed captions and other accessibility considerations are not afterthoughts—they are part of how I design.

Knowledge Checks

Interactive Simulations

Interactive Simulations

Intermittent knowledge checks give learners opportunities to pause, retrieve information, and apply what they have learned before moving forward.

I use a variety of question types and interactions to keep learners actively engaged and to reinforce key concepts. When designed intentionally, knowledge checks can do more than test memory—they can help learners recognize gaps in understanding and prepare them to apply what they have learned in a real-world context.

My favorite way to assess learning—particularly when teaching software or procedures—is through interactive, task-based simulations.

Rather than relying exclusively on traditional multiple-choice or true/false questions, simulations allow learners to demonstrate what they would actually do. They may need to select the correct area of a screen, follow the appropriate sequence of steps, or enter the correct information.

This approach gives learners an opportunity to practice in a safe environment before performing the task in the real world.

A course can teach learners what they need to know and provide opportunities to practice, but training is not always the best tool to support every task after the learning experience ends.

For complex, infrequent, or high-stakes tasks, learners may benefit from accessible performance-support resources they can reference at the moment of need.

I create step-by-step guides, checklists, flowcharts, FAQs, and other job aids that help learners perform tasks accurately and efficiently on the job.

Graphic Design & Video Editing

Effective learning design requires more than placing information on a screen. I use visual design, graphics, video, and multimedia strategically to clarify complex concepts, support learning objectives, and create engaging experiences.

Using industry-standard tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Camtasia, I can create and edit graphics, video, screen recordings, annotations, transcripts, captions, and other multimedia elements.

From audio cleanup and screen recording to content annotations and sensitive-content blurring, I enjoy combining creative design with practical problem-solving to bring learning experiences to life.

I have created a sanitized version of this AI Awareness training for your to explore.

The course combines an Articulate Rise learning experience with an interactive eLearning module developed in Articulate Storyline. It includes course expectations, interactive learning activities, downloadable resources, external links, and an evaluation survey.

Explore the course to see how I combine instructional design, interactivity, accessibility, multimedia, and performance-support resources to create a complete learning experience.

And yes—you might even learn a thing or two about AI along the way.
